reviews

back when I first got into the industry, at least 17 years ago now, reviews were pretty spot on and clarified a lot for people. you used to be able to read a review of a strain and pretty much know what you were getting. now days with so many amateur growers and too many 'gold rushers' and people playing mad scientist with flowers in their make shift labs you really don't know what you're gonna get or how convoluted a strain is. finding the correct phenom is always suggested, but I digress.  so in light if recent days and facing many shops that probably shouldn't be in business (I am not going to out right blindly support them all when I have been out there seeing how they operate, function, and think) I am going to do future reviews with a 'brand'. whatever shop they come from or geneticists I get them from will be said brand, followed by strain and everything else. I am hoping there will be less confusion and bring some organization to a world of millions of phonemes and strains, at least my part of it!

girls

back in 2009 I went to the thc expo, as it was called then. it was a small event in comparison to the gatherings now and it was neat to really be able to talk to others in the industry in that sort of environment as it seemed more cozy, personal, like a group of friends getting together. new things debuted, new tech peeked it's head out a bit. it was a good time to ask imperative questions of the producers and a great connection making event. we saw everything from brand new led lights to small budding companies with great ideas, some with obvious longevity as they are still around today! many I recall meeting, coming across old business cards, speaking to and keeping in touch with unfortunately are no longer in business. their owners having branched off into different parts of the industry. one company in particular was very fun... eveything420.com. the booth was filled with great people, they got passers by to answer questions on video that I think you can still find on YouTube (you might even see me, with white hair at the time) they had anything you could think of too! tshirts, aprons, even chonies!! :D they are still around, you can find them at 420nurses.com you see, the companies have become one! the nurses are a great group of girls. I support their concept although I don't agree with the porn, I'm really on the fence about the whole thing although, like everyone, I have opinions. non the less, they have a fantastic concept behind them and I think if pointed in the right direction they can be a unique tool in helping the industry along. check them out see what you think! :) support the girls and maybe you will see them at my next event! I'm sure you will enjoy yourself in the least!! and you can find me there, merriejayne, of course! ;)

bit the bullet

illusion
so I bit the bullet and bought a new piece. I am glad I did! :) I went to my local shop, I prefer going to this lady as she is always nice and I like supporting her business, and she talked me into this piece by illusion glass. it's double chamber with a glass flower in the layers. it's a smooth hit with even the harshest wax so with flowers it's extremely nice! I will go back to her, not only to support her, but she has offered to put some of my business cards out! helpin each other out.. I like that, I respect that. :)

better than anticipated

when I first acquired the shaman she was by all mean the prettiest flower I had seen to date.  her crystal coverage was there, her fragrance fruity sweet and exotic, her color almost alien as I had never seen another like her. upon sight she was amazing, excellent bag appeal in the least. needless to say my expectations of her were very high.  after the first bowl I was happy with her taste but disappointed as not even a head change was present. on to bowl two, something there but extremely minimal. bowl three, a bit better but still not where I expected it to be. bowl four, now here, with any good flower, knowing my personal tolerance is where I normally feel something good. even with an eh flower there is something more than I was getting from this, by all appearances, amazing flower. I was disappointed for sure! I gave her chance after chance, trying different batches, almost willing her to meet up to her look. when I was offered the strain to grow I was apprehensive. I just didn't think she had it in her, even though her lineage screamed otherwise, my exposure to her over the previous two years was just not promising. I gave her a chance anyhow, in my mind, sacrificing the space for something I was unsure of. you see, I don't have a large space but I utilize every inch. as she grew I was pleased with her response. her color and coverage more so than I had seen before and as she got older she stunned me further, in my 13 years I have never seen a frost like this let alone her paleness. photos can never do her justice. yet it seemed every light I had for her would be stamped out by previous memories of her and the doubt would set in. now she is done. she is beautiful. she is fragrant and breathtaking and this is just her first round. she has been curing a few days so I thought why not try her in the new piece. all apprehension has vanished. after two bowls the head change was very present. after four I am quite pleased. she tastes sweet and strong. she is smooth and stoney, the front of your head swelling around type of stone. I see her true potential. I am very excited for round two. I am hoping she will show me more as time goes on.

more

if you're interested in doing something more there are many ways to help the movement! here is one that might be pretty cool!
a step in the right direction

robbed!!

oh california

right to rights

shaman

so the shaman finished her first round. I am pleasantly surprised at how well she did. I didn't do anything special to her just let her go and do her own thing. I watched her and sang to her of course but beyond that she just got the basics. now she is in for a second round. I have begun to mess with her nute levels and play with her here and there. she is doing very well. she has finished quite white and her smell is fragrant fruity and very strong. we'll soon see how potent she is.

instayeah!!!

so instagram has been a wonderful little window into the worlds of other growers. there are some really talented folks out there and it is nice to see what they do and how far they take their girls. it turns out a lot of them are kind, humble folk who genuinely seem to have a care for the plant. for awhile the run in with gold rushers was quite saddening and there were many many grows I visited in which it was glaringly obvious these people cared nothing for the life they were cultivating and only were looking for that pot of gold. it's a happy time when the ratio alters and you meet more passionate for the business and the plant. there are great people to follow there if you are interested in seeing how the other part of the world lives :) drgreenthumbzzz, gofw420, bossmeds75, blazinpurps, herbalgardens, imtiazmather, thisisthatoneguy, kingofthecrops, bizboz_420, thegreentribe, richslo, secretgardeners, and shamen101 just to name a few! support your local grower... support any grower!!! :) <3
